‘There is no real ending. It’s just the place where you stop the story.’
It is with great sadness that we bring you the news that, after 38 years, the next issue of LINK will be the magazine’s last.
This has been a very difficult decision to come to but one that we felt needed to be made. LINK has always been a voluntary organisation, with income generated through advertising and via the regular Togswap sales. No LINK member has ever been paid for the hours and hours of work that they have put in and, sadly, over the last year or so it has proven increasingly difficult to recruit volunteers for both the magazine and Togswap sales.
In addition to this, a number of LINK members are returning to or need to focus upon their studies or are simply unable to balance LINK with the commitments of family life. With four LINK babies on the way, it is understandable that priorities for other members will naturally shift towards family time.
The production team felt that it was best to give LINK a storming send off with one final hurrah, rather than letting it slowly wither away despondently into the night. We hope that you will join us in celebrating the long and illustrious life of a small part of Sheffield’s history. The coming issue will focus on looking back and I’m sure there will be some great recollection about the magazine.
If you’d like to submit a contribution for the final issue, get your skates on and send something to firstname.lastname@example.org. We’d love to hear from you.
From all at LINK magazine, thank you!
